Wusthof Easyedge Knife Sharpener
Photorealistic Keyshot and Photoshop renders for quick package design and testing.
Details and Texture
A high level of detail helps distinguish form and feel.
Silky Soft Light
Light adjustments and background texture add a sense of realism.
Flexibility
High quality CAD based renders allow for quick testing and package design, while accommodating for last minute revisions.
Precision Battery Stacking Machine
Designed for prototype Li-ion battery fabrication, this machine produces the Z-type electrode stack assembly (the internal assembly in many pouch cells). This product allows for design flexibility and customization for testing new battery technologies.
Concept Development
Simple functional prototypes were fabricated from low cost materials on-site to assess design requirements.
Revision Iterations
Iterative cycles of CAD, component fabrication, assembly, and functionality testing produce a refined design. It is critical during these iterations to perform end user research to guide feature selection.
During this phase, legal is looped into the development plan to ensure designs are not in violation of existing patents. Novel features are identified for potential I.P. protection.
Product Testing
Once a revision is complete, prototypes are sent to our partner facilities to test functionality. Feedback is analyzed to determine if additional improvements are needed.
BoM and Component Acquisition
After the iterative design prototype phase is complete, a bill of materials is finalized and supply chains are developed.
Cost models are also finalized including component, assembly labor, Q.C., packaging and additional costs.
Custom Pistol Grip
Designed using SOLIDWORKS and Rhinosceros, then MJF 3D printed for testing.
Client Concept
The process began with a co-design session to understand the needs of the client, and ensure great communications from the start.
CAD Work and Prototype Revisions
Consecutive cycles of iterative design and testing refine vital tolerances and ensure client involvement and satisfaction throughout the project.
Final Outcome
The final deliverable was a CAD file and functioning prototype to aid in fundraising and eventually take to mass production.
Built-In Kicker
A student project based on the concept of wanting to go faster and catch big air!
Ideation Phase
Starting with the concept of utilizing electric skateboard parts to reduce cost, quick and dirty sketching gets the creativity flowing and starts to define form and function.
CAD Assembly
Once a general design direction is decided, Solidworks was used to generate working models of each component and assembly.
Graphic Flair
Top and bottom graphics complete the board design, and make for a great presentation!
Laceless Runner
Another student project, this one is for those of us who are sick of stopping to tie our shoes.
Sketches For Days
While keeping the problem in mind, step one is to get creative with the possibilities!
Final Render
Once the direction is decided, the details need to be flushed out in a Photoshop render designed to pop.
Abbreviated Tech Pack
The tech pack contains everything a manufacturer would need to make the first round of prototypes. To the right is an example of the cool looking bits.
